Antenatal Colostrum Harvesting Workshop
Your evidence-based guide on everything you need to know about colostrum aka liquid gold before giving birth.
Pregnancy is such an exciting time, filled with lots of preparation for a new little one. As a pregnant mama, you might have already started setting up a nursery and laundering baby clothes. If you're considering breastfeeding, you might be taking a feeding prep course (you can check out mine here) and may have heard a little about colostrum.
Colostrum harvesting has many benefits for you and your baby. For mums, it allows you to get familiar with the anatomy of your breasts and helps you confidently hand express after the baby is here, should you need to and also be confident in your ability to produce and feed your baby. It's a great skill to know if you need to relieve any engorgement once your milk transitions post-birth. For babies, it reduces their likelihood of receiving formula should they need any top ups or have difficulties in feeding, especially if they are born prematurely, are going to be in NICU, mum has gestational diabetes or has a caesarean.
